Racing In The South

Business Tech Solutions in collaboration with is hosting a first of its kind cycling race for Junior/Youth riders on the Southern Highway. The race is called the Southern Loop and is intended to provide an additional competitive racing opportunity for young cyclists. The race is scheduled for April 17th, 2016 and starts at 9:00am at the Xiabel Gas Station at mile 6-1/2 on the Hummingbird Highway. The route starts by turning onto the Southern Highway and continues to the end of Bella Vista Village before turning back to finish in Independence Village for a distance of 55 miles. The event will be for riders in the Junior Category and Youth Sub-category riding for prizes and awards from first to fifth place finish.

The last event on the CFB calendar for the Junior/Youth category was the Junior Cross Country on March 20th 2016 and the next event is the Annual Pablo Marin Labor Day Classic on May 1st. There has been some uncertainty surrounding the start of this event due to a lack of sponsorship, but the federation had indicated that they would not want this event to fold. We have been unable to confirm the status of this race or the intentions of the federation up to this point. Nonetheless, the 2016 Southern Loop offers a legitimate opportunity, for the at least one of racing category, to compete before the schedule Tour of Belize in May and National Championships in June.
